Found underneath structure C1, an Early Classic funerary/ceremonial monument found among the main ruins at the site (Hall et al. 1990). This structure is identified as tomb 19 and this is where this and other vessels were recovered and tested chemically for cacao. In addition, this vessel had decorations on the outside walls with Maya hieroglyphs which consisted of 15 separate glyph blocks or text. "Two of hieroglyphs on vessel 15 are syllabic spellings of a word ca-ca-wa...This Mayan word is rendered in the Latin alphabet by Stuart as 'cacao' or 'cocoa'" (Hall et al. 1990:141).
